This new mini–web Series “Aspirants” presented by web channel TVF is pretty famous among the youngsters especially UPSC Aspirants. Aspirants, after the previous classic Kota factory, is a mature and update on the amateurish charm of the former. It has seamlessly tied Indian pupil to the make-or-break drill of UPSC.

Aspirants is set in the Old Rajendra Nagar of Delhi area popular for providing the best UPSC training. The series is about three college best friends, Abhilash, Gurpreet Singh (Guri) and Shwetketu Jha (SK), and also Sandeep Bhaiya. They all had common dream of becoming an IAS but had varied personalities and vastly different backgrounds. The story encapsulates their friendship, life, struggles and hardships during the preparation phase, exhibited primarily in flashback.

The show runs on two different time frames six years apart. Among the three, only Abhilash succeeds in fulfilling his dream of becoming an IAS officer, but how, is kept secret till the end of season finale. The rest of the two, Guri and SK, get settled in their life as businessman and teacher, respectively. The series starts with Guri meeting SK after six years and with the invitation for his marriage. The story progresses with indifference developed between the besties after the results of Preliminary exam of UPSC till date.

The story has beautifully described life learnings in its own way. The conversation of Sandeep Bhaiya with IAS Abhilash in the last episode is mesmerizing. Sandeep Bhaiya says-

Maa, Baap, Pyaar, Dost, inhe apni dreams ke liye sacrifice kar dena is not worth it. Not worth it at all”.

His explanation in support of this statement with the analogy of rocket and satellite is the part I loved the most.

Not only dialogues, but this series also has three songs, “Mohbhang Khuda”, “Dhaaga” and “De Mauka Zindagi”. And all three are just awesome and heart-warming.

It is a well written narrative about the fun, enjoyment, relationships, struggles, and hardships of the preparation phase and gives a message about the importance of patience, hard work and sacrifices in life to fulfil one’s dreams. Students who are preparing for UPSC exam would be able to associate with the series and even those who are not preparing will find it entertaining and have a good time watching the show.

If you have enjoyed this post, do like and let me know which part you liked the most in the series “Aspirants”.
